PayLuma's estimate for 30 June

$751 refund
Next $1,000 of overtime:
you keep $440

Made for people whose pay changes every fortnight

If your income moves with nights, weekends, overtime or a second job, the tax taken out each pay is a guess. PayLuma keeps a running total so the guess doesn't become a surprise.

  • Nurses and midwives
  • Doctors
  • Aged and disability care
  • Paramedics and police
  • Trades and construction
  • Engineers and IT
  • People with a side business
  • Property investors
  • Skilled migrants

What is your next $1,000 of overtime really worth?

Tax rates, the Medicare levy surcharge and HELP repayments stack up. Near some thresholds, a little extra income costs far more than you'd expect. Try it.

$120,000

Of your next $1,000, you keep

$670
Income tax $300, Medicare levy $20

Illustration only, for a single Australian resident in 2026–27 with no other adjustments. Uses current resident tax rates, the 2% Medicare levy, the Medicare levy surcharge for singles and compulsory HELP repayments. Your own result depends on your situation. PayLuma works it out from your payslips.

Everything that changes your tax, in one place

Start with one payslip. Add the rest as the year goes.

Reads your payslips
Upload a PDF and PayLuma picks up the employer, pay date, gross, tax, super and year-to-date figures.
Projects to 30 June
Your usual mix of overtime and penalty rates is carried forward, so the estimate follows how you actually get paid.
Threshold warnings
See when the next pay rise or extra shift tips you into a higher HELP rate or the Medicare levy surcharge.
More than one job
Two employers, an agency or a casual shift. PayLuma flags when the tax-free threshold is claimed twice.
Rental and business income
Record rent, property costs and sole-trader income, including PAYG instalments, by ATO category.
Medicare, surcharge and visa exemptions
Covers the Medicare levy, the surcharge for people without hospital cover, and the exemption many skilled migrants on work visas can claim.
Deductions with receipts
Log work expenses as you pay them, with the receipt attached and the work-use share worked out.
A myTax-ready summary
At the end of the year, download a PDF laid out in the order myTax asks for it, ready for lodging yourself.

Questions

Is PayLuma tax advice?

No. PayLuma gives general information and estimates based on the figures you enter and current Australian tax rates. It doesn't tell you what to claim. For advice about your situation, speak with a registered tax agent.

Do I need to connect my bank account?

No. PayLuma works from your payslips, plus anything you choose to add such as receipts or rental statements.

Can PayLuma lodge my tax return?

No. You lodge yourself in myTax, or through a registered tax agent. PayLuma's summary lays your figures out in the order myTax asks for them.

I've moved to Australia on a work visa. Does it work for me?

Yes, if you're an Australian resident for tax purposes, as most people on skilled work visas are. Many work visa holders aren't entitled to Medicare, and PayLuma can include the Medicare levy exemption if you have a Medicare Entitlement Statement. Working holiday makers and non-residents are taxed differently and aren't covered yet.

What will the AI assistant do?

It will answer questions about your own figures in plain English, like "why has my estimate changed?" or "what happens if I pick up two extra shifts?". It explains your numbers. It won't tell you what to claim, and it isn't tax advice.
